The winter season in Alberta can be long but there is still so much to do. Central Alberta is a great place to enjoy a crisp cool day out on the lakes doing a little skiing…. Yes we have a ski hill! Medicine Lodge Ski Area is just a short drive from Bentley, Lacombe, Ponoka, Rimbey, Sylvan Lake, Red Deer, Eckville and Rocky Mountain House. It is a natural ski hill, so it is dependant on weather to open to the public. Make sure to check their Facebook page for up to date information on hill status.
Lacombe & Lacombe County have countless areas for ice fishing, snowmobiling or skating, tobogganing.
If you are the more adventurous type you could take up kiteboarding and sail your way along the frozen shorelines and drifts of Gull Lake.
The City of Lacombe has many cleared ponds in which to skate on and also some groomed trails for hiking and cross country skiing.
The Town of Blackfalds also has many cleared ponds in which you can skate on!
Create your own winter memories in Central Alberta.
